Seeding is a multi step procedure. It begins with soil sample, tilling the area to be seeded, amending the existing soil (if needed), raking the soil to grade, planting the seed, an application of seed starter fertilizer, applying a covering of straw and rolling the seeded area to ensure proper soil / seed contact.

In the spring seeding is best done around the last week of March through mid to late April. This will allow the seed to germinate and begin to establish root growth before the warmer months of the summer. However during this time frame, you can expect to only get about 35% to 40% seed germination.

The fall seeding time begins in mid to late August through late September and is the ideal time for seeding. You can expect to up to 65% to 70% seed germination during this time. Even thou the grass goes dormant during the winter, the grass root will continue to thrive and grow.
